Blessings of relationships

Throughout this year, what continues to stand out is the concept of relationship. We have seen relationships change in many ways, and through all the mess, relationships continue to be what we miss most. We tried zoom pie nights and virtual game nights as a replacement for face-to-face interaction. It worked (a little), but it is not the same as a good old hug. At Elkanah, we know we have been created by God for relationships, and it is the relationships that make Camp, camp. Without the relationships made at camp, we are just a neat place in the woods.

Camp aspires to create a place where God brings campers and counselors together to build a relationship where He can change lives. We are constantly considering ways we can provide opportunities to bring individuals and families together to build relationships.

Specifics are a moving target when it comes to bringing groups together at camp. As a staff, we are combing the pandemic guidelines and continually seeking to provide opportunities for building relationships. Events we are working on include Christmas at Camp (December 19th), where families can get away from the world for a few hours and enjoy the Christmas season. A couple’s marriage retreat where couples can step away from the troubles of this world to reconnect and rejoice in their unity through Christ. A family camp where families can have fun as a family, away from the craziness of the world. These are a few of the events we are working on for the new year. Whatever the event is, our goal is to provide a place where relationships can grow.

As we enter the Christmas season, I am reminded of the relationships I have and the blessings I receive from them. The blessings are from the people in the relationship, not the relationship. Blessing others is what makes this season special. It is our prayer that you are blessed through the relationships you have through Camp Elkanah.

Thank you for being part of the Camp family! We look forward to continuing to connect with you throughout the new year.

Blessings from your Camp Elkanah family!

Joe (Mr.) Wing
