A picture is worth a thousand words…
This month our director, Joe, shares updates and info.
I am often asked, “What do you do at camp?” The answer really depends on the week, the day, and sometimes the hour. This month I share a few photos of camp.
This spring we added to our camp family!! We are excited to welcome Eric and Karen Harrison to our camp staff. Eric joins our staff as the Guest Services Coordinator. He will manage our rentals department and assists our guests as they rent our camp facilities. Karen joins the team not only as Eric’s wife but also as our primary camp cook. God continues to bless our team through the people he brings to serve Him at Elkanah.
Camp continues to develop our infrastructure to serve our campers and visitors. With a grant from the Gray Family Foundation, we were able to make improvements to our facilities. Replacement of the worn zipline cable was a top priority. Through the replacement process, we were able to reevaluate and reconfigure the dismount from our zipline. Improvements to the dismount include a safer platform and rolling ladder and a much-needed bridge upgrade. We have also replaced the backup pump for our water system to provide reliable water throughout camp.
Our bathroom construction project continues to move forward!! We are excited to share that the craft cabin is officially moved to its new location. Our museum and offices will open as soon as we complete the front porch. At the restroom sites, trees have been cleared making way for the buildings. The construction fence is up and we are ready. Many materials and supplies are on order and our contractors are excited to begin work on our project. Watch our social media for updates and invitations to be part of this blessing to create a new space.
Amongst all these activities we continue to welcome students from local schools for our spring outdoor school sessions. This spring we have shared Elkanah with approximately 1000 students from ten local schools. Students learn about the amazing place that is Camp Elkanah! The screams from the zipline, the wonder of what a beaver really sounds like, and the simple enjoyment of outside all remind us why we do what we do.
As we look toward our summer camp season, we pray that God is working in the hearts and minds of campers even today to prepare them for the work he will do in their lives this summer. We are blessed as He continues to fill our summer staff with individuals committed to sharing His love with the campers. There is still a need for counselors and program staff. If you or someone you know is interested in summer staff this year, please check out our summer camp page here!
Registration for summer camp closes soon! Register today to save your spot!
We thank you for your continued support through prayer, volunteering, and the commitment of the Track Crew.
