hello again…
It has been a while but we are excited to bring you current updates from Elkanah!
The photo above captures our dream team as they tackle one of our low ropes elements, The Log! As I look at this image, I think about two very different aspects of camp. The first is campers and staff members who come to camp. Some confidently stand ready for what lies before them. Others are just happy to be there, standing and not falling, if only on one leg. Still others are ready to tackle anything that comes, even if that means getting on their hands and knees to help those around them.
The second aspect is a little more abstract, as I am reminded of the various projects we have underway at camp at any given time. Some projects are standing by, waiting for a crucial piece to be adjusted before they can progress. Others are precariously balanced, and we are hopeful that we can encourage them to take the next step. Some projects seem to be moving very slowly, and we find ourselves wondering when they will finally be completed. Still other projects are on hold as we wait for different elements to align, and some projects simply need a helping hand.
Regardless of the state of each project, staff member, or camper, we are grateful that God called us all to Elkanah to meet people where they are and be there as they take a step towards Christ.
Summer Camp
This summer has been an incredible journey for many campers as they discovered amazing transformations in their lives through Jesus! We gathered around the campfire and in the cabins to share heartwarming stories about how God is at work, encouraging everyone to embrace a fresh start. At Elkanah, campers get the chance to reflect on their past while tuning in to God’s gentle voice, especially now that the distractions of the outside world have quieted down.
One camper, who grew up in a Christian family, is starting to realize what it truly means to make her faith her own. Another camper, carrying a heavy load of struggles and pain, has felt God’s call to let go of that baggage and step into the abundant life He promises. It’s such a joy for us to witness these campers embracing those promises!
Bathroom Update
The tile installation is now fully completed in both of the new restrooms! We are currently focused on adding the essential finishing touches, including installing the toilet stalls, shower curtains, grab bars, and other fixtures to enhance functionality and safety. It’s incredibly exciting to witness the progress as we move closer to completion. Thank you to everyone for your heartfelt prayers and unwavering support throughout this journey; we can’t wait for everyone to experience and enjoy these beautiful new spaces that have been designed with care and attention to detail!
