The foundation…
In chapter 4 verses 10-20 of Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he writes to encourage the Philippian church that supported him throughout his ministry. He closes with this statement, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.” This is our prayer for Camp Elkanah, that God will supply every need. Over the years, He has provided for camp through the support of many churches and individuals. Throughout Camp Elkanah’s history there is story after story about how God abundantly provides for the needs of Camp. Recently, the blessing of a new Hobart commercial dishwasher was provided solely by individual and church donations. The John Deere Gator, used by camp staff every day, was given to Elkanah. Throughout this year, God is continually teaching me to rely on His provision and seek His vision. He prompted the dishwasher fundraising effort and He was faithful to provide above and beyond.
The recent pandemic has reiterated God’s faithfulness and provision for camp. The pandemic occurred during our peak season, effectively shutting camp down. These events punctuate the need for stable monthly funding. Our current funding model is like a rock skipping across a pond. It will skip, skip, skip, and then stop. Camp is funded in a similar way; event, event, event, and then COVID… STOP. We want to move from a rock skipping across a pond to a train rolling down the tracks. The tracks are the foundation that allows the train to travel smoothly onward. Now is where we ask, is God calling you to partner with Elkanah? As a monthly supporter and partner, you join The Camp Elkanah Track Crew. Your contribution lays a foundation that stabilizes the monthly expenses, bridges the gap of income in the slower seasons, and paves the way for camp to grow! This frees up our resources to be used for upcoming projects and seeking God’s vision for Camp Elkanah.
Someone once told me if you do not ask for the big things then you are not allowing God to show you how big He is. We are trusting Him with confidence that He will supply every need. I ask you to prayerfully consider becoming a member of the Camp Elkanah Track Crew, to partner with us to build a stable foundation for Camp Elkanah. Members of the Track Crew receive updates from the Elkanah Express and as a thank you, a set of laser engraved ETC wood coasters, crafted from a tree harvested at Elkanah. God will provide for Camp and it is our prayer that you join us in this amazing ministry of His.
