The path…
This month our director, Joe, looks to the past and the future with thankfulness.
At Elkanah, we have adopted the idea that to look forward we first need to look back. When we look back, we see where we have been, those that have come before us, and how far we have come. As we look forward our goal is to not stray from God’s vision and path for Elkanah. As we transition to the slower season of camp we turn and look at what was 2022. Through that field of view, we see God’s answers to prayers for summer staff, we see Him drawing campers into a deeper relationship with Him, and we see His provision for Elkanah.
When we expand our field of view to see to decades a fuller picture of Elkanah comes into view. We see God’s plan for Elkanah through those that came before us. Their kingdom work provides housing for our year-round staff, a bridge to support the weight of busses, food delivery trucks, and construction vehicles, and a network of knowledge and support we can call on for advice and answers to questions like, “Where is that sewer pipe?”
With our eyes on the path behind us, we look to the future with thanks, knowing that God sees the whole picture. We are thankful for:
The staff God gathered for this time at Elkanah, with varied talents and abilities.
Our programs continue to grow and provide more opportunities for people to cross the bridge and encounter God’s saving grace.
Deferred maintenance issues are reduced and we are able to put energy into improvements.
The prayerful support of those covering us with prayer as we go about the routines of camp.
The monthly support of the members of the Track Crew, currently at 40% of our $15,000 per month goal.
Our partner churches that support us by providing summer staff, pastoral support, and friendships we cherish.
We are thankful for you, without your support we would not be able to answer the call God has placed on our hearts to serve Him at Elkanah.
When we take a moment and climb to the top of the next hill to look over, we see amazing things in store for Elkanah. We see our new bathrooms completed and we look to new ideas for using the space of the old restroom. We continue to work toward our goal to see the monthly support of the Track Crew reach 100%. There is much to be done and we are excited to steward Elkanah into the future.
